P.E Lessons

P.E lessons in Year 4 will be every Thursday and Friday.  Wednesdays will be Games lessons outdoors and Fridays will be Dance or Gymnastics in the hall.

Children should come into school in full Norwood PE kit on these days which is a white t-shirt with black or navy blue tracksuits/ leggings and jumper. Norwood jumpers and cardigans can be worn as part of the Norwood P.E kit.

After February half term 2023, the children will take part in Swimming lessons each Friday at Dunes.

Homework

Homework at Norwood.
Homework has changed this year and we will be focusing on reading and times tables. We would love the children to read at least 3 times per week at home. In our weekly reading for pleasure sessions at school, we will discuss what we have been reading at home and completing activities based on this. Any kind of reading is encouraged, fiction, non-fiction, newspapers, children's magazines, anything that takes their fancy! This should help to promote a love of reading amongst our children. In addition to this, we would love the children to read and complete the quizzes on Oxford Reading Buddies, which is a system funded by Friends of Norwood.

Times tables is very important in Year 4 and a big focus for us within our teaching of Maths. 5-10 miinutes, at least 3 times a week on TTRS would really aid the children's fluency and recall of their times tables. In Year 2 and 3, children we taught the 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables. In Year 4, we will teach the 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables.
