Great Fire of London
Class: Year 2 Year: 2016-17
The children recreated Pudding Lane and the Great Fire of London. They watched the flames spread outwards from the bakery, to a chorus of "London's Burning! London's Burning!" They also made bread, like in Thomas Farynor's bakery.
Norwood Playground 1666. With the help of Mr James, Year 2 recreated the area around Pudding Lane in the east End of London 1666. Mr James,an ex firefighter, demonstrated how to safely set them alight and discuss why the fire spread so quickly. Although the children were sad to see their creations literally 'go up in smoke' it was very exciting and gave them a better insight into why it might have happened in London all that time ago.
