Educational Visits and Visitors

At Norwood there are a wide range of Educational Visits and Visotrs for the children to enrich theuir Curriculum whether it be locally or further afield. The school takes every opportunity to take children's learning outside in the community. These include visits to: Vue cinema, The Atkinson, the local Fire and Police Station, High Schools as well as Blackpool Zoo, Martin Mere, Liverpool Philharmonic, Jodrell Bank and Bradshaw Brook.

We are delighted to offer two overnight residential holidays which continue to be very popular amongst the children.

In Year 4, the children are away for three days and two nights at Robinwood near Wrexham in North Wales. Here children experience raft building, canoeing, climbing, the Leap of Faith, abseiling, archery and the infamous Piranha Pool just to name a handful of activities all aimed at the 9 to 11 year old age group.

By Year 6, the children are well prepared for the four day, three night challenge of the adventurous activities in and around Conwy in North Wales. They will walk, climb, canoe, gorge walk, canyoneer and even eat ice cream! By the time they have returned fromt hat, they have greater confidence, independence and the ability to support and encourage each other.

The staff and Governors consider this programme of overnight educational visits to be a vital part of the life of Norwood Primary School.
