Diwali Day

As part of Reception's 'Time To Celebrate' topic we had a super time learning about Diwali and how it is celebrated. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights and is celebrated in the autumn. As part of our celebration, we came to school wearing bright coloured clothes that were nearly as bright as the beautiful clay Diva lamps that we made. While our Diwali feast was being prepared, we worked up an appetite by learning some traditional dance moves and then thoroughly enjoyed a vegetable curry served with rice, naan bread and mini popadoms - some of us had never tried popadoms before and we thought Mrs Thorpe's curry was delicious! Finally, we decorated the playground with colourful Rangoli patterns as it is believed that they bring good luck.
